Clinical Profile and Management Outcomes among Patients with Carotid-Cavernous Fistula

Background. A carotid-cavernous sinus fistula (CCF) is an abnormal communication between the internal carotid artery and/or external and cavernous sinus. There a paucity of information on ophthalmic outcomes endovascular treatment for CCF in Philippines.Objectives. This study aimed to describe clinical experience our institution order further ourunderstanding disease. described demographic profile, risk factors, features ofpatients with CCF, compared data patients according type CCF. One hundred twenty records diagnosed were included. Based angiographic findings, grouped 86 Group 1 or Direct 23 2 Indirect 11 3 Mixed treatment, 109 A, B, male predominance most occurring age range 26 35 years. Risk factors trauma hypertension. Clinical included presence blurring vision, proptosis, corkscrewing conjunctival vessels, extraocular movement limitation, diplopia, audible bruit, elevated intraocular pressure, pulsation. Findings Computed Tomography scan dilated superior vein, enlarged muscles. (Group 1) occurred mostly males, mean 39.1 years, as major factor. 2) females, 52.1 hypertension Regardless can exhibit spontaneous improvement worsening features. Patients generally had favorable outcomes, manifesting either no minimal complications associated treatment.Conclusion. Endovascular safe effective visual acuity, ofconjunctival amount bruit.
